Registration of baby with Ameli/CPAM

Bonjour,

We are living and working in France with social security numbers and just had our second child, first to be born in France. We declared the birth at the Etat Civil in the hospital and have several copies of the birth certificates.

Do we need to take a further step to register the child for Ameli/CPAM or is it automated. My French is not great and I think the lady in the office told me we needed to do something, but out GP told my wife it would be automatic. I checked a few weeks after the birth and only our first child is shown on the online attestation of rights.

Please can a helpful person explain what steps we need to do if any?
