Help to declare baby born outside of France to CPAM/ameli

Bonjour, we are very soon about to have a baby but will be born outside of France (Spain).

We plan to return back to France shortly after - can anyone help to understand the process how to declare a new born (born in Spain) so he can be linked to my Ameli account and covered with French social security.

I’ve checked my Ameli account online and I can only see the option to declare a new born in France (declaration du nouveau-né) Is there another option which I may have missed to do this online for a baby born outside of France?

I’m still quite new to France so unsure with all the procedures related to cpam / ameli.

Merci beaucoup!
HC

Hi HC,

We have already answered a similar question. I invite you to take note of this topic :  "How to declare my newborn baby to my social security number" and to take this step as soon as your child is born.

Have a nice day.

You cannot do it online.

https://www.ameli.fr/sites/default/files/formualires/175/...

fill this and send it to your CPAM with document of birth of the baby.

Hi!

We’re in the same issue. So I just fill out that paper form and send to my CPAM by physical mail?

Our child was born in the Netherlands. We’re both Americans with French Social Security numbers.

Hello aman,

I confirm you have to fill in the form S3705, and attach your baby's birth certificate.

The application must be sent by post.

The processing times vary depending on the type of files and the number of files being processed by your caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM).

If you need help regarding this request, you can contact the CPAM’s English or French Advice Lines.

Have a nice day.
