Retiring from Germany to France. Don't want to use S1 Form

My husband and I are retiring to France next month and are having difficulty figuring out the healthcare system.

My husband has state health insurance in Germany and wants to leave the German system completely i.e move without an S1 Form.
How can we arrange this? He will be 66 this year

I am privately insured and want to move into the French healthcare system. I am not entitled to an S1 Form.
How can I join the French health system? I am 64

We are moving to Carpentras.

Thank you

Hello AnaAmeli,

First of all, it is important to precise that when someone is eligible for a S1 form, they cannot choose another way to apply for theit own convenience.

That means that your husband will have to apply providing his S1 form and following the indications mentioned in this topic: "How to be covered if I am a retired European or British citizen ?".

For yourself, I advise you read the topic corresponding to your personal situation:

Have a nice day.

Dear Christelle

thank you for your reply. My husband will get the S1.

I am privately insured in Germany and am retired. As I am privately insured I am not legally entitled to an S1.
How to do proceed with health insurance in France?

Many thanks

Hello AnaAmeli,

If you are not eligible for an S1 form as your husband’s dependent, you should follow the steps indicated by Christelle in the previous response:  How to be covered if I am not working and I am a European citizen ?

I wish you a nice day.
