English speaking Assurance Maladie line STILL NOT WORKING

Like many other frustrated people here, I have tried again and again to contact the English speaking health insurance number. The line simply does not work.

I am trying to call the line from the UK. When I call, nothing happens and I hear three beeps before the line hangs up. Just to clarify:

Yes I am putting the number in correctly.
Yes I have tried calling at quieter times.
No I am not having any issues with my phone.

It seems that the admins in this forum are in denial. Despite several people reporting this issue over an extended period of time, the only response that seems to be given is to try and call the number again. THE NUMBER DOES NOT WORK!!!

I am trapped. I am having an issue with accessing my account (yes, I have all of the correct details) and the official advice is to call Ameli to get this sorted, yet it is impossible to call Ameli's English speaking line. I don't know what I am supposed to do. I desperately need to access my account so I can get on with what I need to do.

PLEASE can somebody in here offer a sensible suggestion for how to get in touch without advising me to call again or try at a less saturated hour. The problem isn't the time of day I am calling, the problem is that the telephone number provided is broken.

If the phone line is not going to get fixed, please can you advise on another way to contact Ameli. An email address perhaps...

Bonjour itscarew,

I am sorry for the difficulties you encounter reaching a counselor, English speaking line that is open from 8:30 a.m to 5:30 pm, can be difficult to reach but in case, a message inform you to contact the line again, there not simply beeps.

If you left France, your rights are closed and the ameli account access is canceled. You will be able to apply once back in France as explained in this topic called "Moving back to France after long absence".

Hi Elryn,

I have a multiple year visa so will be in France several times over the coming years. I already have my permanent social security number.

Hopefully some of the Ameli experts will respond. I tried to call the English speaking helpline again this morning but it is still broken...

Ok but… how to explain…

You have a number because you were living in France or working in France.
The number is ok and forever.

When you stopped to work in France or live in France your Health insurabce is closed. And you cannot have ameli account or be refunded for your health.

That's right, I have a permanent social security number because I work in France. I am back in the UK now, but I will be working in France again soon.

I should still have access to Ameli. The issue is when I try to log in, I get the error message: 'Your connection to your Health Insurance fund is in progress, you will soon be able to benefit from your account on Ameli.fr.'

Like many other people on this forum who have received this error message, the advice from the admins has been to call the English speaking helpline to get this issue resolved. The problem is the phone number doesn't work.

This has left me in a helpless situation where I am completely stuck. If there are any Ameli experts present, please can you let me know what to do. Is there an email address I can contact for instance? I desperately need to access my account.

If the phone number doesn't work and I can't access my account, surely there has to be some other way to get the help I need? The alternative is that I just give up, which isn't an option for me.

You will be able to solve it only when you will be back in France and working in France.

Actually your situation is closed for Health Insurance and that s normal.

When you will be back and start working, you well have to send your contract to prove you are working in France.
