If you applied online on the website https://etudiants-com.ameli.fr/  you need to wait for your documents to be accepted, before receiving a social security number. 

Processing times to get this social security number can fluctuate from a caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM) to another but are generally no less than two months at the start of the new school year, when applications are very numerous.
