Your adoption leave

Adoption leave must begin on the date of the child's arrival in the home or within 7 days of the child's arrival and end within the following 8 months.

There is no minimum duration for adoption leave, and you may take as many days as you wish within the total authorised period.

One of the parents may receive a lump-sum after the adoption. If both parents meet the eligibility requirements, they may share the adoption leave and any related benefits.
