Urgent Cancer Treatment before Carte Vitale and Carte de Sejour received.

We are EU citizen and family and have been waiting for our Carte de Sejour and Carte Vitales for almost a year. We have sent all the documents required, but our files were inexplicably closed because they said documents were not provided even though we had the receipt to show they had been received at the CGSS and the prefecture. I have just received a diagnosis of breast cancer and need surgery and radiation etc. but I cannot travel as I do not have my CdS and have been told I will have problems at the border (I am British). They will not accept my EHIC card now either or the new GHIC card that replaced it. I have provided my S1, but am still not very hopeful that this will be registered quickly. I am worried sick about having cancer again and cannot believe I have ended up in such a difficult situation. Last week they quoted me 400 euros for a CT scan. My biopsy results were sent to the wrong place delaying things by a further two weeks. The radiographer wouldn't belive me that i needed a biopsy because I have preeviously had a mastectomy causing a delay of another two weeks. He did the worng type of biopsy and I had to do another one delaying it all yet again. I don't know how to cope with all of these delays and the consequential massive expenses that we shouldn't actually need to pay. My partner is a cross-border worker and is forced to pay medical insurance deductions from his salary, but that insurance also refuses to pay because we technically live 'abroad'.

Hello Chabaa,

Like we told you in your previous topics, we can’t reach any of your information or file from this forum.

The processing times vary depending on the type of files and the number of files being processed by your caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM).

If you need help regarding this request, you can contact the CPAM’s English or French Advice Lines.

More information in the following topic: How to call the French Health Insurance Advice Lines?

While waiting to be covered, I advise you to keep the "feuilles de soins" (claim forms), and possible prescriptions, given by health care professionnals. You can claim for reimbursement when your rights are open.

If you are displeased by your CPAM's functioning, you can submit a complaint or contact your CPAM's mediator. You will find information on our website ameli.fr: "Réclamation, médiation, voies de recours".

Have a nice day
