About security social number and changing personal information related to contacting.

Dear Madam / Sir,
I'm a student and I hope to receive my Cart Vitale. But my documents are still processing. Also my temporary security social number also expired on 20/10 2020. Still I don't have a permanent number. I contacted the office many times and every time they told it will be take some time. As well as I have to change my address, phone number and email. Can I go to hospital with my temporary number which has already expired?
Please I hope your kind and valuable consideration!
Thank you very much.

Hello KSJ,

A temporary social security number doesn't expire. Your temporary number will be cancelled only when you will get your permanent number.

You can ask a new attestation de droits to your caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM) if the previous one is expired.

A temporary social security number gives you the same rights that a permanent one. The only difference is that you can't order a Vitale card or open an ameli account for the moment.

The processing times to get a permanent number (starting by 1 or 2). can fluctuate between a caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM) to another one.

Unfortunately, because of some safety and confidentiality issues, we can’t reach any of your information or file from this forum.

Anyway, if you need help regarding this request, you can contact the CPAM’s English speaking line. More information on the link below : How to call the French Health Insurance Advice Lines?

You can also contact the French speaking line, dial 36 46.

Have a nice day
