What do you do if your application for your SS# has been lost by CPAM?

I have applied for my French SS# in April and called today to ask about the status of my application. I was informed that there is no record of my application, I am devastated. I very carefully assembled all the required documents and submitted them to the CPAM office in Chambéry along with my partner whose application is in process. I don't understand how it can just be gone. What do I do?

We are sorry for the trouble with your membership application.

I recommend that you make an appointment at your CPAM office to make sure that they do not have your application. It is also advisable to bring the documents required to open CPAM entitlements. That way, if your initial application is actually lost, you can submit a new application by hand.

You can call your CPAM to schedule this appointment.
