Ameli account is only available to members of CPAM and partner insurance schemes.

As an MSA insurance member, you are not eligible for the ameli account.

It may be covered by MSA, but we still have a right to an ameli account, don't we ?

A l'occasion, l'expert ameli pourrait il/elle nous dire pourquoi "primaire" ?

Hello Claire,

You can provide your documents by mail or you can check on Dépotdoc if your local CPAM office allows you to send your documents electronically.

Regarding your proof of residency you can join your utility bills or your rental bills from the last 3 months (even from AirBnB).

You have to send your application to the CPAM where you are living. You can find your CPAM's address on our website ameli.fr, section "Adresses et Contacts".

Hello Marlene, you haven’t actually answered my question.

I won’t be coming as a jobseeker either, I already have a French CDI contract, I start on the 12 November. I already have a French social security number (NRI) as I was born in France.

I asked when I have to provide the relevant documents to be affiliated/covered and whether these can be provided electronically, and what I can do in the absence of proof of address as I will be staying in Airbnbs until I find permanent accommodation.

Bonjour Claire,

If you arrive in France as a job seeker, you can not apply directly for the french social security.

if you come from the UK, You have to check first if you are still covered by its social security system (NHS) and if so, they will provide even an European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or an S1 form.

If you are no longer covered by the UK, you will have to justifiy about 3 months of residency before you can apply to join the French health system. I advise you to read this topic : Social security number. If you dont't have a french work contract, you will provide proof of residency for the past three months (utility bills, rental contract, b'n b's bill etc.)

To know more about your social protection and steps with France Travail, I advise you to have a look at this webpage from the "centre des liaisons européennes et internationales de sécurité sociale (Cleiss)" : "You are coming to France to seek employment".

Hello, I am a dual British / French citizen. I was born in France but have never worked in France before. I will be commencing a job in France on the 12 November 2025, and will be staying in Airbnbs until I can find permanent accommodation.
When do I need to submit the relevant documents to CPAM, and what do I do in the absence of a proof of address?
Do the documents need to be supplied in paper, or can it be provided digitally?

Your local assurance maladie office will notify you about the progress of your application sending a letter by post.

Moreover, because of safety and confidentiality issues, we can’t reach any of your information or file from this forum.

The processing times vary depending on the type of files and the number of files being processed by your caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM).

If you apply as a worker and passeport talent holder, I confirm you should follow the recommendations from the topic called "How to be covered if I am a « Passeport talent » or a « Passeport talent famille » holder ? ".

You will need to submit the following documents to your Caisse Primaire d’Assurance Maladie (CPAM):

- A copy of the passport or identity card;
- A copy of your work contract or of your payslip;
- The S1106 form "Application for membership in the French healthcare system" available on ameli.fr;
- The certified and complete copy of your birth certificate, issued less than a year ago, with the mention of your parents’ names;
- A copy of your marriage certificate, issued less than a year ago (if applicable);
For non-European citizens, the official translation of your birth and marriage certificates into French, made by an official translator registered with a French court of justice, or by your consulate or embassy;
- Your French bank account details (copy of your official RIB - relevé d'identité bancaire/IBAN);
- If you have children, a copy of their recent birth certificate and passport or ID with the form S3705 "Application to add minor children to one or both parents insurance accounts", available on ameli.fr;
- For non-European citizens, a copy of your visa or resident’s permit.
