Hello Luna,

It is your employer who applies for the NTT. You will have it faster than your NIA. I suggest you to read this topic about doing an intership (or guetting a job) without a social security number.

Then, depending on the reward of your internship, you will have to apply for NIA. For more explanations, you should go to this website : "Coming to France for a college internship".

If your contributions due on compensation exceeding 15% of France's hourly social security ceiling, you could become a member of the general scheme for coverage of your health care expenses.

So, you must fill in the form S1106 "Application for membership in the french health care system",, accompanied by a copy of your passport, an original or certified copy of your birth certificate, a copy of your intership contract and, if possible, your first pay slip and a French bank statement (RIB or IBAN) in your name, and send your request to your local CPAM.

Once your application has been processed, you will receive a provisional social security number (NIA).
