Hello Bobby,

As you were borned in France, you already had a social security number.

If you don't know this number or can't find it, I invite you to apply to health insurance in France sending the form S1106 "Application for membership in the french health care system" along with :

- a copy of your passport or identity card,

- a RIB (the bank details),

- a copy of your work contract or your first pay slip,

You can find your CPAM's address on ameli.fr, in "Adresses et Contacts".

You do not need a social security number to start working and get a work contract.

If you do not know your social security number, you will leave the form blank when you're asked to fill the number, your caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM) will find it in the national database and will let you know it later.

Since I was born in France, would I already have a security number or would I need to start working before I am able to get a permanent security number?

Thé job must wait and take information about how to do when thé person they recruit is living out of France.

It’s when You will start thé job that You will be able to « open » your sécurity social. You will have to fill a document and give supporting documents including a prove of your job (contract…)
