<fb20:question-body>

I was born in Canada and have an Irish passport. I called the English Ameli number and was told that to apply for a carte vitale I need a long form birth certificate stamped by Ireland. I have since found out that the Irish authorities won't certify documents from Canada. Would a Canadian long from birth certificate authenticated in Canada suffice? Or do I need the Irish Foreign Birth Registration certificate stamped in Ireland? Or both? I want to make sure that I've got all the right documents before I apply.
