Hello truexfalse,

An S1 form is a healthcare certificate that entitles you and any dependants to healthcare in another EU (European Union) country on the same basis as a resident of that country.

The S1 will permit the social security system in Greece to affiliate you and to take charge of your medical expenses. This allows reciprocity with the French social security system, and for a period of time as indicated on the S1 form.

When you come back to France, you can keep using your french social security number.

If you need help regarding this request, you can contact the CPAM’s English or French Advice Lines. More information in the following topic: How to call the French Health Insurance Advice Lines?

Have a nice day

 <fb20:question-body>

Hello,
I have an autoentreprise in France, thus under social security law, I am covered by French social security on the basis of having an activity there(Article L111-1 of the social security code).
I recently obtained the provisional number and my rights were opened. However, the Greek social security fund, advised me to get an S1 form from France, in order to not lose healthcare coverage in Greece, since it is the country in which I spend most of my time there. I am also waiting for the permanent number, which I was given a time of about 3 months from the issuance (mediatrice said this on the phone, but my poor French did not help much).
I want to ask, in my case, what procedure do I have to take? I will not stop my autoentreprise, so I will keep paying social charges in France, but part of the tax in Greece, according to the DTA. With the S1 form, my healthcare rights will be transferred to Greece? How does it work? I have conflicting information on my disposition, so I am quite confused.
At the time of writing, I still have coverage from Greece, according to the EHIC, however, I lose it soon due to lack of workdays. Will the s1 ensure the continuity of my rights from French insurance in Greece? More importantly, is this the appropriate form for my case? I am mostly inactive/student in Greece and only have an ocassional salaried activity, not enough for healthcare rights being maintined from the Greek fund, so that is why I was thinking of the S1.
Best regards.

I also got an email from the mediatrice again. Processing time for the issuance of the definitive number is between 3 and 8 months. She said my file is already sent to SANDIA, so there is no further delay from their part( the CPAM), but any additional delay could be caused by the number of files processed by SANDIA.

So, in this case, it is a matter of the S1? I was trying just to confirm that before contacting my CPAM, as there are significant delays (cannot use Ameli account) and I have to be concise when I write to them.
The S1 is needed when you transfer rights between two countries?
And what happens if I return to France? Do I have to request an S1 from Greece, or I have to notify the CPAM that I am back?
One more question, indeed. In which way the S1 will affect my rights in France?
Additionally, since the issuance of an S1 depends on criteria, could you please tell me what are the criteria for an S1?
In case I cannot get the S1, I will have to be in Greece with the French EHIC? (A little inconvenient, as reimbursement works differently in that case, in Greece).
On the other hand it would not be so strange, as I have been with the Greek EHIC in France for a while, so the reverse can happen.

Hello truexfalse,

If your CPAM (caisse primaire d'assurance maladie ) agrees to give you the S1 form, it will enable you to have rights in Greece thanks to a transfer of yours rights that you have in France. Unfortunately, because of some safety and confidentiality issues, we can’t reach any of your information or file from this forum and we are not able to let you know if you can have it.

For your definitive number, I will advice you to contact your local CPAM office because the processing times vary depending on the type of files and the number of files being processed by your CPAM.

Have a nice day.
