Hello Sophie,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried calling both CPAM's English line but it doesn't work. I finally got through the French line and was told that I need to send a letter (not an email or a phone call) to CPAM with a copy of my ID card. I have already done this twice but have not received a reply.

I sent both letters with a copy of my carte de sejour. Should I send a copy of my passport instead?
And finally, is there any other way to retrieve my social security number if I have lost all my other documents and my carte vitale?

Hello Sophia S.,

Depending on who is asking for your "numéro de matricule", there's a possibility, it is indeed your social security number.

You can find your social security number on an old "attestation de droits", on any document sent by l'Assurance Maladie, on a top-up insurance's card/document, on a pay slip…
