The processing times vary depending on the type of files and the number of files being processed by your caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM).

Hello,

Thank you very much for the response, I do have some more questions I hope you can help me,
I had an emergency surgery few months ago, while I was working in France from November but my company was not very helpful with me applying for the security sociale,
I received recently the bill from the hospital with the 30 days to pay it, my questions are

-Do I need to pay it or wait for the security sociale or to contact directly the hospital?
-if I don't pay it is there an extra charge as a fine?

and second because of this situation as you understand I will need the public insurance
-how long does it take more or less to received the number and is there a way for emergency situations to receive it faster maybe?

Yes you can send your file by the post.

Postal services are still working, CPAM is still working on documents sent by the post. Processing time can be longer than usual due to the situation. You can find the mailing address of your CPAM entering your zip code on this link : "Adresses et contacts".
