Thx Roxane for your answer, which did not answer my concern.
Please understand that I still don’t have the carte vitale and I still don’t have a social security number. So Suppose I need surgery today and I go to the hospital to seek treatment:
1- shall I pay myself ??
2- shall I be refunded later on ???

Hello toubib,

The processing times vary depending on the type of files and the number of files being processed by your caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM).

To be reimbursed from your medical expense by the caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM) you need first to have your social security number and then to provide the "feuille de soins" (form given by doctor / hospital, etc. for forwarding to the Social Security), medical prescriptions and invoices relating to payments made during your care. You will need to complete your social security number at the top of the claims and send it to your CPAM.

You will find the address on the ameli website : "Adresses et contacts".

I advise you to contact the caisse d'allocations familiales (Caf) for any question regarding their refunds.
