Problems with acquiring information about the status of my social security application.

I have dropped the required documents for applying for a social security number / carte vitale on the 27th of January in the Villejuif's office mailbox. Since then I am trying to get an information on the status of the procedure. I am trying to get a confirmation because it has happened two times before that my files got lost in the process and I had to reapply.

I have been trying to call the 3646 number, but since my french is not good, the french speaking operators are forwarding my call to their english speaking colleagues. However whenever they try to forward my call an automatic voice informs me that the english speaking line is not available and I should try to pose my question on the forum.

So here I am. As an english speaking person, how can I get an update on the status of my application?

  • Is it possible to get an email address to which I can send my questions translated to french?
  • Is it possible to get a direct phone number to an english speaking person?

There is no email address for enquiries about the progress of a request.

But you can try to reach the CPAM’s English Advice Lines.
