Also, it's not mandatory to have a french social security number before signing a work contract.

If you find a job, your employer will complete a preliminary statement of employment (déclaration préalable à l'embauche - DPAE) and establish a temporary technical number (numéro technique temporaire - NTT). If any questions, your employer may contact the technical support for the DPAE or the Urssaf (union de recouvrement des cotisations de sécurité sociale et d'allocations familiales).
