Hello, I am a foreign exchange student in France studying here for 6 months. I have registered with the french social security system through "L'Assurance Maladie International Students". I created a personal space and submitted my application and my status is that the processing has been completed so I have been given 2 documents " Welcome pack"
and "Attestation de droits". The Attestation de droits provides me with a n° de sécurité sociale (starting with a 2). However it says that I will be informed as i will receive my Vitale card by post and then will be able to open my Amel Ameli account. Does this apply to me as I am a foriegn student? Or will I stay with my number that I currently have and will not be recieving a Vitale card by post and am not required to open a Ameli account?
This process is not clear as to what the next steps are. I am unsure if I am awaiting something in the mail, if I am needing to do another step, or if I have compleated the entire process.
I would appreciate if someone can advise me on this as I am in France alone for the first time and do not know how these things work. Thank you!
