Question en attente de réponse

Social security number

Hello,

I was hired by CNRS in January. In my first payslip I have a social security number which I think is provisional since I tried to create my Ameli account and I was not able to create it. I would like to know how can I get my social number, I would like to obtain the reimbursement from medical services I accessed this week and I haven't been able to obtain guidance on how to do this.

Thank you.
Best Regards,
Andrea R.

Hello arianoes,

Social security number is 13 digits + 2 digits key.

If your social security number starts by 7 or 8, it means that it's a temporary one. You only can open an ameli account with a permanent social security number (starting by 1 or 2).

If your number ends with 999 999/99 or 000 000/00, this is not a social security number, not even a temporary one.

As immatriculation to the french health system is not automatic, i advise you to ask your employer to know if your file has been sent to the CPAM.

If it wasn't done and  to know how to be covered by the French healthcare system, I advise you to read this answer, available on the forum: "New to France - Healthcare?".

If you hold a "Passeport talent visa", i advise you to read : "Passeport talent visa affiliation".

If the number you have is a valid one, then i advise you to read :

Comment transmettre mes documents à ma caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM) ?

Have a nice day.

Hello,

Thank you for your response, I received a social security number starting with 8 (meaning that is temporary). I moved to a new place and I don't know how to change my address so I can receive the carte Vitale. In addition, I was not able to create the account with this temporary number so I don't understand what is the use of this number, could you please explain me?

Thank you.
Best Regards,
Andrea R.

Dear arianoes,

A temporary social security number gives you the same rights that a permanent one. The only difference is that you can't order a Vitale card or open an ameli account for the moment.

The processing times to get a permanent number (starting by 1 or 2) can fluctuate between a caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM) to another one.

Unfortunately, because of some safety and confidentiality issues, we can’t reach any of your information or file from this forum.

Anyway, you can contact the CPAM’s English speaking line to update your address on your file.

The number changed. More information on the link below : How call French Health Insurance Advice Line ?

Have a nice day.
